    Frequently asked questions

Does this safety training replace the instruction under § 43 Infektionsschutzgesetz (German Infection Protection Act)?

No. Anyone working commercially with food requires initial instruction by the public health department and thereafter instruction by the employer every two years (§ 43 IfSG (German Infection Protection Act)).

For whom is the hygiene training intended?

For all employees in general work areas. Additional, sector-specific hygiene rules apply to healthcare, food, or laboratories.

Is online safety training legally permissible?

Yes. Safety training may be conducted electronically if the content is workplace-related, comprehension is tested, and employees can ask questions of a competent person at any time (DGUV Regel 100-001 (rules of German statutory accident insurance), Abschnitt 2.3). Armstrong tests comprehension with knowledge questions and provides a question function.

How is the safety training documented?

Upon completion, each person receives a certificate with their name, date, topic, and the result of the knowledge test. Participation can be retrieved by the employer at any time in the participation matrix – this provides proof of documentation in accordance with § 4 Abs. 1 DGUV Vorschrift 1.

    About this course

This training course focuses on the importance of hygiene in everyday work life to reduce the risk of infection through simple yet targeted measures. It provides a basic understanding of how infections are transmitted via hands, physical contact, and the air in a room. Participants learn to act appropriately in different situations and choose the right hygiene measure for each scenario, whether that means washing their hands thoroughly at the right times, observing coughing and sneezing etiquette, or ensuring good indoor air quality through ventilation. Another focus is on the proper use and maintenance of shared areas and equipment. The training emphasizes that hygiene is a shared responsibility and encourages participants to report deficiencies in workplace conditions rather than improvising. The goal is to raise awareness of effective hygiene practices and empower employees to actively contribute to ensuring health and safety in the workplace.
