Frequently asked questions
Does online fire safety training replace training as a fire protection assistant?
No. Fire protection assistants additionally require training with a practical firefighting exercise (ASR A2.2, DGUV Information 205-023 (guidelines of German statutory accident insurance)). The safety training is aimed at all employees.
How often is fire safety training mandatory?
Prior to taking up work and at least once annually thereafter. In addition, in the event of changes, such as new escape routes or premises.
Is online safety training legally permissible?
Yes. Safety training may be conducted electronically if the content is workplace-related, comprehension is tested, and employees can ask questions of a competent person at any time (DGUV Regel 100-001 (rules of German statutory accident insurance), Abschnitt 2.3). Armstrong tests comprehension with knowledge questions and provides a question function.
How is the safety training documented?
Upon completion, each person receives a certificate with their name, date, topic, and the result of the knowledge test. Participation can be retrieved by the employer at any time in the participation matrix – this provides proof of documentation in accordance with § 4 Abs. 1 DGUV Vorschrift 1.
About this course
Understanding fire protection is crucial for safety in the company. The training teaches the legal basics, common causes of fire and their physical principles to enable preventive action. Another focus is on correct behavior in the event of a fire, from raising the alarm, evacuation and extinguishing small incipient fires to first aid. In addition, the three pillars of preventive fire protection - structural, technical and organizational measures - are explained in detail. A practical demonstration and exercise on handling fire extinguishers and an evacuation simulation round off the training to consolidate theoretical knowledge and ensure safety in the event of an emergency.
